Father Lawrence A. Rice, CSP
Fr. Rice earned a Bachelor of Arts in General Arts and Sciences from the Pennsylvania State University (1983), and a Masters of Divinity from the Catholic University of America (1989). He entered the Paulist Fathers novitiate in 1983, and was ordained a priest in 1989. As transitional deacon (1989) he served on the staff of the Catholic Information Center in Toronto, Ontario; after his priesthood ordination he served for one year as Pastoral Associates at the Church of the Good Shepherd in New York City.
From 1990 – 2002, Fr. Rice was the associate director of ITP-Paulist Communications, and producer for Paulist Media Works. Fr. Rice worked in both the production and marketing of Paulist products for radio, television, multimedia, and Internet projects. Fr. Rice was the Producer ofThe Paulist NewsMagazine, the award-winning weekly news and features program syndicated nationally by the Paulists. In 1997The Paulist NewsMagazine won the Gabriel Award for Best Religious Radio Program in National Distribution.
Fr. Rice’s expertise includes communications training, consulting, crisis communications management, strategic planning, and technology for ministry. In 2006 he was a featured presenter at the Ohio Council of Churches Ministries Convocation, speaking on "The Digital Parish: Tools and Best Practices for Technology in the Church." In 2007 and 2008 Fr. Rice was a featured presenter at the Petrus Leadership Conference, where he spoke on the use of technology for collaboration in campus ministry development. In January of 2012, he was the keynote speaker for the Interactive Connections catechetical conference in Orlando, Florida.
Between 2000 and 2010, Fr. Rice was a weekly contributor to Catholic Radio Weekly, the radio program produced and distributed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. In February of 2008 he became a weekly contributor to the Busted Halo Radio Program on SiriusXM Satellite Radio’s Catholic Channel (www.thecatholicchannel.org), featuring his “Facts of Faith” catchetical works.
In 2010, Fr. Rice was named the Paulists' First Consultor, and Director of St. Mary's on the Lake, the Paulist summer property on Lake George, NY.
