2013 Paulist Pilgrimage to Rome

Join the Paulist Fathers as we walk in the footsteps of Paulist Founder Servant of God Father Isaac T. Hecker! Father Larry Rice, CSP, Paulist Fathers first consultor; Father Paul Robichaud, CSP, postulator for Father Hecker’s cause for sainthood; and Father Tom Gibbons, CSP, associate pastor of St. Peter’s, Toronto, will serve as your guides and chaplains as we explore Hecker's Rome. The week-long pilgrimage will include a Papal audience, tours of the churches and holy sites of Rome, and Hecker's favorite haunts. There will also be ample time for individual exploration of Rome and excursions to other Italian cities.

The registration fee is $1699 per person includes accommodations at four-star hotel, guided tours, breakfast daily, two dinners, and three lunches. The fee does not include airfare; pilgrims will be responsible for making their own flight arrangements. Space is limited to 26 pilgrims.

Day 1 - Saturday, April 20

  • Mass at Santa Susanna
  • Opening dinner at Da Giovanni

Day 2 - Sunday, April 21: Santa Susanna

  • Mass at Santa Susanna
  • Tour of Santa Susanna and pilgrimage intro
  • Lunch at La Gallina Bianca or other neighborhood restaurant

Day 3 - Monday April 22: Hecker

  • Visit St. Mary Major (Mass)
  • Visit Redemptorist House
  • Lunch at nearby restaurant
  • Visit Cardinal Barnabo’s Office
  • Walk by Hecker apartment
  • Visit Café Greco

Day 4 - Tuesday, April 23: St. Paul

  • Mass: St. Paul Outside the Walls (Mass)
  • Lunch at Checco Dello Scapicollo Restaurant
  • Tre Fontane
  • Optional evening walking tour with Father Paul or Father Greg

Day 5 - Wednesday, April 24: St. Peter

  • Papal Audience
  • Lunch at restaurant near Vatican
  • Optional tour of St. Peter’s with Father Paul
  • Option visit to Vatican Museum
  • Option to take Scavi Tour

Day 6 - Thursday, April 25: Optional

Optional excursion day (Florence, Assisi, Siena)

  • Mass at Santa Susanna

Day 7 - Friday, April 26: Optional

  • Optional Mass at Vatican
  • Optional tour of Vatican
  • Optional Tour of the Scavi excavations at the Vatican (depart hotel at 10 a.m. for 11 a.m. tour; $20pp plus cost of shared taxi)
