“Talking to God” Video Wins Gabriel Award

May 15, 2020

We are honored to have been awarded today with the 2020 Gabriel Award in the category of “Religious Order – Videos creating awareness of the organization” from the Catholic Press Association. The award was given to “Talking to God,” our profile of Paulist Fr. Tom Hall, who served for decades as a U.S. military chaplain. The profile includes video, long-form audio, and an article.

The video was filmed and edited by Ryan Haggerty of Haggerty Media. It was based on an interview by Jennifer Szweda Jordan of Unabridged Press. Paul Snatchko, our director of marketing and communications, served as executive producer for the video. It was filmed at our summer retreat, St. Mary’s of the Lake in Lake George, NY.

The Catholic Press Association also gave a Second Place recognition in the category of “Best Internet Video” to our short film “The Laundromat” that was written and directed by Emanuele Sesta. “The Laundromat” depicts a brief encounter between a Muslim woman, a Catholic woman, and their children in a laundromat in Harlem.

We also received a Second Place nod in the “Religious Places” category for our “Ash Wednesday at St. Paul’s, NYC” a video that also was created by Emanuele Sesta.

Congratulations are also in order for Busted Halo, our media ministry, which bagged second place in the “Best Internet Video (one to four min.)” category for “Holy Week in Three Minutes”

We would like to thank the Catholic Press Association for this recognition! Thank you for all of the good work done by CPA and its members!
