Alaska, Appalachia and Beyond: Paulist Father Michael Martin’s True Tall Stories
by Jennifer Szweda Jordan

You can’t miss Paulist Fr. Michael Martin in gatherings of his community. He’s known as the “tallest Paulist.” His height exceeds a standard door frame. Walking with a cane, his is a commanding yet tender figure in the line of his fellow priests putting their hands on newly ordained members.

His ministry is as storied as his physical height. He started St. Nicholas parish in Alaska’s North Pole, where, as you might imagine, the community worked hard to respond to the mail it received for Santa.

He recounts this and other highlights of his life in this conversation with Jennifer Szweda Jordan for the Paulist Fathers. It was recorded in Vero Beach, Florida, where he lives with several other Paulist priests.
