NEW YORK – The Paulist Fathers are pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Lewis as the Paulist Mission Strategy Officer.

In this new role, Lewis will work closely with the Paulist Presidential Board and provide strategic and ministerial support to the Paulist Fathers by identifying, planning, and implementing programs, policies, and practices that support charism effectiveness and mission integration into the culture and operations of the missionary society.

Lewis comes to the role with 15 years of experience in parish and diocesan leadership in the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, the Diocese of Wilmington, the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and the Archdiocese of Washington where he served as Assistant Secretary for the Secretariat for Pastoral Ministry and Social Concerns. He most recently served as Vice President of Customer Operations at Catholic Faith Technologies.

He also has served on the Paulist National Lay Advisory Board and is a former Board Member of Paulist Evangelization Ministries.

“We are delighted that Jonathan Lewis has agreed to join our team in this important new role,” said Paulist Fr. René Constanza, president of the Paulist Fathers. “His experience and skills will serve us well as we seek to integrate our charism and mission more closely into everything we do.”

An important aspect of the Mission Strategy Officer’s role will be to collaborate in the planning and coordination of Paulist meetings and initiatives, including the missionary society’s quadrennial General Assembly and the regional “Pre-Assemblies” that gather the input of Paulists, parishioners, Paulist Associates, and others.

“We are excited to have more lay people than ever before participating in our pre-assembly process,” said Fr. Constanza.

A native of the Kansas City area, Lewis is an alumnus of The Catholic University of America. He also holds a Masters in Theology from the University of Notre Dame through the ECHO: Faith Formation Leadership Program.

In 2018, Lewis was appointed by Pope Francis to serve as a member of the Synod on Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment.

He lives in the Washington, D.C. area with his wife and three young children.

About the Paulist Fathers

Established in 1858, the Missionary Society of St. Paul the Apostle (“the Paulist Fathers”) was the first society of Catholic priests founded in the United States.

The society seeks to introduce the Good News of Jesus Christ to people beyond the Church walls, and to accompany Catholics who feel apart from the Church, through missions, media, campus ministries, parishes, downtown centers, the arts, and more.

The society’s media ministries include: Paulist Press, an award-winning Catholic publishing company that releases a wide variety of titles each year for adults and children; Paulist Productions, an Emmy Award-winning creator of films and television programs; and Busted Halo, an innovative website and radio program on SiriusXM’s The Catholic Channel.

The society leads parishes and centers in Austin, TX; Boston; Chicago; Grand Rapids, MI; Horseshoe Bay, TX; Knoxville, TN; Los Angeles; New York City; Rome, Italy; San Diego; and San Francisco.
