Paulist Fr. Frank Sabatté, our artist-in-residence and director of the Openings Collective, recently was honored with a 2022 Gaudium Award from the Breukelein Institute. 

Here are glimpses from the gala dinner on October 6 at the Lotus Club in New York City at which Fr. Frank was presented with the award.

He was joined that night by Openings leader Robert Aitchison and Paulist Fr. Rick Walsh, pastor of the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in New York

In his acceptance remarks, Fr. Frank said:

“Art that has integrity, regardless of its form or style, initiates and sustains conversation.

“True conversation as in ‘conversio’ changes for the better all involved.

“For over 15 years, Openings has fostered such conversations among a great diversity of persons.

“Who has been changed? Hard to say.

“I know I have.

“I am humbled and grateful to you, to the Paulist Fathers and to all those artists committed to the conversation.”
